What is 95%?

95% is about how much an average home owner/do-it-yourselfer gets done on a home improvement project.  After a project is 95% finished, they move on to a new project.  For example:

  • The new bathroom was done a year ago, except none of the towel racks are up.
  • The new door is installed, except it is missing the trim around the frame.
  • The deck is done except it is missing the lattice trim around the base, and one of the stair railings.
  • The kids' wooden jungle gym was put together 2 years ago, but the slide is still lying on the ground.
  • The fence posts have been in the ground for a year, but the fencing sections are still lying in a stack.

Make me a list of your projects that need that 5% completion, and I will come in and add that finishing touch.

I finish my work 100%.

  • I cover doorways and furniture with tarps.
  • I clean up after myself before I leave the job for the day.
  • I spackle, sand, and match trim until it is a finished room.
